RauhRacing has reached a major milestone in the development of our Renault Twingo prototype: following a comprehensive technical inspection, the car has officially received DMSB motorsport certification and has been approved for competition in the SP3 category. This marks the transition of our once-humble city car into a fully recognized race machine — eligible to compete under the same regulatory framework as Germany’s top-level GT cars.
Over the course of a meticulous two-hour inspection, every safety-critical and technical system of the Twingo was assessed. From the roll cage and restraint systems to the fuel cell, catalytic converter, and structural components, the car was examined to the same standard applied to GT3 and GT4 race cars.
Passing this inspection confirms that our engineering approach meets the strict requirements of German motorsport authorities — a milestone that pushes our project firmly into its next phase.
With its approval, the Twingo now joins the SP classes — the official categories for purpose-built racing machines at events such as the Nürburgring 24 Hours and NLS.
Classification in SP3 places our car alongside legendary underdog entries such as the Dacia Logan and Opel Manta. It is exactly where a project like ours belongs: among the unique, beloved, character-rich cars that bring personality back to the sport.
This certification completes an essential chapter in the Twingo’s development. What started as an idea to bring a surprising, charming platform back onto a racetrack has now become a fully authorized race car — one built with care, ambition, and a clear vision for what motorsport can be.
The atmosphere around this milestone has been special, and we are proud to see our engineering work recognized at this level.
A warm thank-you to DMSB and DEKRA for their professionalism throughout the inspection process.
And a special thank-you to our partners at Motorwerk, whose craftsmanship and commitment helped us bring this machine to the highest standard.
As always, we are grateful to our community for following every step of this journey.
With the SP3 certification secured, we now continue our development path — preparing the Twingo for the racing environments it was built for, and bringing another truly individual car back where it belongs: on a racetrack.
